Angioplasty (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention)
Overview
Angioplasty is a minimally invasive procedure used to open blocked or narrowed coronary arteries. A small balloon is inflated inside the blocked artery to restore blood flow, often followed by placement of a stent to keep the artery open.
Modern angioplasty uses drug-eluting stents and advanced imaging techniques. The procedure can be performed through radial or femoral artery access with excellent success rates.
